With the 2024 Project Summit being held in Boston, MA, I wanted to combine the concept of the NumFOCUS logo with a well-known landmark in the Boston area.

After some searching, I settled on the Old Southern Meeting Hall, specifically the tower coming out of the building. Bringing a few photos into Illustrator, I traced out the tower to use as an element rising out of the “O” in the NumFOCUS logo, replacing the brackets.

This brings together the well-established NumFOCUS logo (as the organization that supports open source scientific computing projects) and this year’s location (Boston).

It also sets up a foundation to use for future Project Summit logos to create a cohesive feel from year-to-year, while also acknowledging each year’s location.
